Tamara Dworetz

All-Campus Orchestra Teaching Assistant

Tamara is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting at Boston University where she also serves as a teaching assistant for the All-Campus Orchestra. In June 2018, Tamara was awarded 2nd place in the 2018 Boston Pops’ Bernstein-inspired Conducting Competition.

Before moving to Boston, Tamara studied conducting at the University of Texas at Austin where she conducted the University Orchestra and served as assistant conductor for the Butler Opera Center. She was also Assistant Conductor for the Austin Symphony Orchestra for 2 years and interim conductor for the Austin Youth Orchestras in her final semester. She participated in the International Conducting Workshop & Festival (ICWF) with Larry Rachleff and Donald Schleicher, and was one of 5 conductors selected for the Moscow Symphony Orchestra Conducting Masterclass.

Before studying conducting, Tamara directed the orchestra program at Lakeside High School in Atlanta, GA and, in its inaugural year, she served as Philharmonia Conductor for the Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra of Atlanta. She holds degrees a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Indiana University, a Master of Music Education degree from University of Georgia, and a Master of Music degree in conducting from the University of Texas at Austin.
